Arsenal are planning to move into the 2022/23 campaign with transfer target Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as their striker options. The club are unlikely to sign two forwards this summer.

The Gunners have been linked with a plethora of #9’s in recent weeks and months, but Manchester City’s Jesus is currently their priority target.

Tottenham are said to have joined Arsenal in the race for the Brazilian, but the Gunners are still confident of wrapping up a deal.

Jesus’ agent, Marcelo Pettinati, said the player and his entourage were still considering all the projects on the table: “At the moment we’re understanding all of the projects, so right now isn’t the time to say anything. Things will advance after his time with the national team.”

Arsenal hoping to move forward with Gabriel Jesus & Eddie Nketiah next season

The club were expected to bring in Jesus and one other striker this summer, but Eddie Nketiah’s decision to stay in north London has forced Arsenal to re-evaluate. According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein (via Connor Humm), the Gunners are planning to move forward with just Nketiah and Jesus next season.

They currently aren’t planning to sign two strikers this summer, which might disappoint some.

Instead, Arsenal are set to move on with a pair of forwards with a similar-ish profile with Mikel Arteta seemingly favouring familiarity over diversity. The utilisation of both Jesus and Nketiah could see Arsenal evolve into a more flexible and dynamic attacking unit.

While the Gunners might not bring in a pair of strikers this summer, the club could yet make a big splash to bring in a high-output winger. Serge Gnabry has been linked with a return to the Emirates, but that rumour is nothing short of a pipedream.

However, if the Gunners are keen to sign a player of Gnabry’s ilk this summer, they should be looking at RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku and Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby. Both will cost Arsenal a pretty penny, but they won’t demand the extortionate wages that Gnabry desires.
