Arsenal’s Europa League clash against PSV Eindhoven will now take place in October after the game, scheduled for Thursday, was postponed.

The mourning of Queen Elizabeth II has put a severe strain on various resources in the UK, including the police. Following a discussion between Arsenal, UEFA, and the Metropolitan Police, it was decided that Thursday’s home game against PSV wouldn’t go ahead due to insufficient policing.

Supporters haven’t seen the Gunners in action since last Thursday after their Premier League match against Everton was postponed out of respect for Her Majesty’s passing.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side will return to our TV screens on Sunday as it was confirmed that their away trip to Brentford will go ahead and the manager could welcome Thomas Partey back to the fold following his injury layoff.

There were fears that Arsenal might have to forfeit the Matchday 2 tie with PSV due to the hectic nature of their schedule, but room has been found to accommodate the fixture.

The club confirmed on Wednesday morning that the game will now take place on 20 October and, as a result, the Gunners’ Premier League clash against Manchester City, due to take place on 19 October, has been postponed.

Strangely, though, the re-arranged game against the Dutch giants will be an 18:00 (BST) kick-off. I’m sure that will thrill those who, you know, have a job.

As for the postponed City game, that will surely have to take place in 2023. Arsenal’s schedule is full to the brim up until the start of the World Cup in mid-November.

It’s a smart ploy from the Premier League, who are so obviously delaying what will inevitably be a straight duel between master and apprentice for the title. Only joking… or am I?
