Brentford vs Arsenal preview: Prediction, team news & lineups
The final international break of 2023 is in the books and Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are back in Premier League action on Saturday as they travel to Brentford.
Arsenal have a mixed relationship with the Bees, memorably succumbing in west London on the club’s Premier League bow back in 2021. Arteta’s side have since dominated the duel, producing one of their standout performances of the 2022/23 season at the Gtech last time out.
The Gunners have also already beaten Brentford on their own patch this term. A Reiss Nelson strike meant they progressed into the Carabao Cup fourth round at the Bees’ expense.
Thomas Frank’s side are typically such troubling opposition for the Premier League’s top dogs, and there’s no doubt that Saturday’s game will be a serious challenge for the visitors. With Man City duelling Liverpool in the early kick-off, Arsenal could move to the top of the table with a win should their title rivals share the spoils at the Etihad.

Brentford team news
Reported Gunners target Ivan Toney remains suspended for the hosts and he won’t return to action until the new year. Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa will work in tandem up top.
Rico Henry is a long-term absentee, while Kevin Schade, Aaron Hickey, and Josh Dasilva won’t feature this weekend.
Mikkel Damsgaard and Keane Lewis-Potter are both doubts.
Arsenal team news
Aaron Ramsdale will return to the starting XI on Saturday as Brentford loanee David Raya is ineligible to face his former club.
Arteta is expected to welcome Martin Odegaard and Ben White back into his starting XI, while Gabriel Jesus played 90 minutes for Brazil on Tuesday night. I wouldn’t be surprised if the striker makes his Gunners return off the bench this weekend with Leandro Trossard retaining his place in the team.
Declan Rice and Jorginho are midfield shoo-ins with Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe both still injured. Fabio Vieira also serves the first of his three-game suspension.

Brentford vs Arsenal score prediction
Arsenal were woeful in their first game back after the October international break, eventually drawing 2-2 at Chelsea. They can ill-afford to be off the boil here because Frank’s dogged and efficient outfit will make the visitors pay.
However, with Arteta welcoming back several key players back to his matchday squad, you’ve got to back the Gunners to claim all three points on Saturday. Like many of their outings this term, it may not be pretty, but they’ll get the job done.
Prediction: Brentford 0-1 Arsenal
