It is basically confirmed that Vinícius Júnior is now extending his stay at Real Madrid.
A contract saga that has lasted for over two years is now close to its very end, with Premier League champions Arsenal also showing interest in the last few weeks. The Gunners are ultimately going to be left empty-handed as Vinícius Júnior decides to stay at his current club, meaning there is still an opportunity for Arsenal to go for another left-wing option before the start of next season.
There are still a few options available for Arsenal to look at before the end of the transfer window. Even though they have signed Christos Tzolis already this summer, there is still potential for them to further improve what was arguably the one weakness in their team last season.
There are three very good options for Arsenal to consider between now and the end of the transfer window.
3 left-wing options Arsenal could sign after missing out on Vinicius Junior
1. Bradley Barcola
Bradley Barcola is, or at least should be, the absolute priority for Arsenal now that Vinícius Júnior is unavailable.
Barcola is one of the best wingers in the world at the moment and is reportedly available for sale. His rumored asking price is very expensive because he has a long contract, an extremely high ceiling, and is still very young. PSG would reportedly want at least €120 million to €140 million for the French winger.
If that is the case, and if Arsenal decide to enter negotiations for the winger, he automatically becomes the top option currently available for that position.
Barcola is a left winger with brilliant dribbling ability that is not far off being among the best in the world. He also scores and creates plenty of goals. In the 2024-25 season, Barcola scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 league games.
He is a costly option, but he is also one of the best options available. If Arsenal still want a left winger who can decide games by himself, Barcola is the one to go for.
2. Rafael Leão
Rafael Leão is another name that has been prominent in football for quite some time. Leão was once touted as one of the next big things in football when he first broke through at AC Milan.
In the last few years, though, he has become a bit more inconsistent than he would have wanted, which has limited his ceiling more than many expected. However, he is still a player who is only about to enter his prime and someone who could achieve a lot more with a better environment around him.
Leão would also cost a lot of money, although presumably less than Barcola. He is obviously the weaker player of the two at the moment, but as he showed at the World Cup recently, he can still produce really good moments. If he has a better squad and environment around him, he could be a very good signing for Arsenal.
3. Ibrahim Mbaye
I wanted to go for Nico Williams, especially because he has been linked to Arsenal recently - however, his contract's still got nine years left in there, which is something that would make Athletic Club ask for more than what the player is worth.
Another player who also plays for PSG, Mbaye is a very talented winger who would be available for a much lower fee compared to the level of talent that he possesses. Available for somewhere around €40 million, Mbaye is only 18 years old, and even though he has not played that many games for PSG, he has looked really good whenever he has been called upon.
Mbaye is electric, he is a very good dribbler, and there is every bit of talent inside him waiting to be fulfilled.
Obviously, this is the third option because he is still in his development phase, and it is not confirmed whether Arsenal would want another player at that stage of development given where they are as a team and their desire to win trophies immediately.
They already have Gabriel Martinelli for that position, and he could well be on a similar wavelength to what Mbaye would bring.
But Mbaye is still a very good option if Martinelli is to leave the club before the end of the transfer window. He is clearly talented, and even though there is not really space for him in that stacked PSG team, there could be room for him at Arsenal should a player leave this summer.
