News broke earlier this month that the Gunners are exploring an audacious move for Vinicius, with Andrea Berta sensing a market opportunity on this front. The Brazilian's camp has met with Los Blancos officials multiple times over the last six months to discuss a contract renewal, yet no new deal has been agreed.

This uncertainty has prompted Arsenal to make enquiries into potentially signing the 26-year-old, while the North Londoners have also reached out to the player's agency, ROC Nation, presenting them with a lucrative proposal.

This speculation has built up until this week, with Vinicius returning to Real Madrid for pre-season training on Monday. Everything has boiled down to Wednesday's well-documented contractual showdown between the two parties at Valdebabes, and Sky Sports claim that the results are in.

Vinicius Junior to stay at Real Madrid

Arsenal fans have grown increasingly excited about the prospect of watching Vinicius at the Emirates next season, but unfortunately for these supporters, the latest update regarding the player's future suggests this won't happen.

Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill broke the news that Vinicius is set to remain at the Bernabeu. A series of meetings took place between the wide forward's representatives and Los Blancos in the Spanish capital on Wednesday, and an agreement was reached.

While Cotterill admitted that he isn't aware of the details of the agreement, it has been decided that he won't be plying his trade elsewhere next season.

A potentially damaging blow for Arsenal, who will now be forced to look at other options on the market.

That said, Cotterill is known to have a friendly relationship with Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager told the media at a press conference years ago that he was going to lunch with the journalist the following day.
