Bruno Guimaraes has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal from Newcastle United recently. If Mikel Arteta's side is to capture the Brazilian, then there will inevitably be winners and losers.

3 winners if Arsenal signs Bruno Guimaraes

Bruno Guimaraes

Guimaraes joined Newcastle from Olympique Lyonnais after the North East side was taken over by PIF. He would have expected that the Magpies would have been able to sign more top players. However, the money PIF would have wanted to invest could not be due to the Premier League's profitability and sustainability regulations.

The Brazilian has played in the Champions League with Newcastle, but he has only won the EFL Cup. Arsenal will be looking to defend their Premier League title next season and go one better in the Champions League. Therefore, Guimaraes should win more silverware if he is to join Arsenal.

Declan Rice

Arsenal will be signing one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. Guimaraes can play centrally, as well as in a holding role. Declan Rice will likely be his midfield partner. Rice has established himself as the main man in Arsenal's midfield and one of the best in the world.

Guimaraes will likely be competing with Martin Zubimendi in the Gunners' lineup. This is good for Rice as he will now have another more defensive midfield that can play alongside him. Rice will then be able to get into more advanced areas of the pitch.

Rice was also overworked last season, playing in 55 games in all competitions for Arsenal. He is now with England at the World Cup. If Rice needs to be rested, then Arteta has the option of playing Guimaraes alongside Zubimendi.

Brazil

Guimaraes is currently starring for Brazil at the World Cup. He already has three assists in their three group stage matches. In the round of 32, they will be much fancied against Japan. It would be good for Carlo Ancelotti's side to have Guimaraes at a big club like Arsenal. This is especially as at the Gunners, he will be club teammates as well with Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli.

3 sore losers if Arsenal signs Bruno Guimaraes

Eddie Howe

The Newcastle manager, Eddie Howe, will find it difficult to replace Guimaraes. Pressure is on Howe, and he may now feel that he has taken the Magpies as far as he can. Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League last season, and could drop further down the table without the Brazilian.

Christian Norgaard

Christian Norgaard has barely featured for the Gunners since he arrived from Brentford. Guimaraes' arrival at the Emirates would surely signal the end of the Dane's time at Arsenal. Even someone such as Zubimendi, who was excellent last season, may be concerned about how much game time he will have next season. It remains to be seen where Norgaard could go, possibly Ajax, who have shown interest in him in the past.

Manchester United

Guimaraes was linked with Manchester United in the past, and they would now need to target alternative targets. The Red Devils are letting Casemiro depart the club, and Guimares could have been an excellent replacement for him.

United have had to settle on Éderson from Atalanta, who looks set to join the club. He has no Premier League experience, and Red Devils fans would have much preferred them to sign Guimaraes. Michael Carrick's side appears to still be searching for more central midfielders. They have also recently been linked with West Ham United's Mateus Fernandes, Nmecha of Dortmund, and Mamadou Sangaré from RC Lens.

Saudi Pro League clubs that have targeted Guimaraes in the past will now also have to pursue alternative targets.
