Former Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld believes Julián Álvarez would be a better signing for Arsenal than Vinícius Júnior.

The Belgian believes that Álvarez is a more dynamic striker than any of those already at Arsenal, and he feels like he would make a big impact up front.

The Gunners have their eyes set on signing Vinícius Júnior this summer, and in either of those deals, the transfer fee would be around the same amount.

Vinicius Junior is a better player than Julian Alvarez, and he wouldn't cost more than the Argentine

The biggest difference is that Álvarez has a huge contract, while Vinícius Júnior's contract ends next season.

Despite that, if their prices are similar, that shows the difference in the level of both players. Vinícius Júnior is, at his best, a top-three player in world football. Julián Álvarez cannot be considered the same, at least at the moment.

He has not shown enough to be a top-five player in the world, and he does not move the needle enough to be a better signing than Vinícius Júnior.

Vinícius Júnior has proven in the past that he's good enough to lead a project by himself. He has scored important goals, he has had big performances in big games, and has proven time and time again why he's one of the best in the business.

Álvarez is coming off a pretty mediocre season for Atlético Madrid, where he didn't really score as many goals as everyone would have thought he would. Having Vinícius Júnior over Álvarez in this Arsenal squad would push the ceiling even higher, as Arsenal have struggled without a great left-sided presence for the longest time.

There is also the point that Alderweireld makes about whether Vinícius Júnior could struggle in the Premier League the way Eden Hazard struggled in La Liga. Yes, he can adapt.

Hazard's case was unique because he struggled in La Liga after leaving the Premier League. I'm not saying La Liga is more difficult than the Premier League, but there is no reason for Alderweireld to put one league down over the other.

Vinícius Júnior is technically gifted. He is quick, and his dribbling skills are among the best in the world. He has played against Premier League opposition before and has consistently had great performances against them.

You can ask Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City. In almost every single time that Real Madrid have faced English opposition over the last four or five years, Vinícius Júnior has been the best player on the pitch. Obviously, there are more teams than those in the Premier League, but the point still stands.

Vinícius Júnior is a better player than Julián Álvarez. He also fills a position that Arsenal need to reinforce more than the striker position. This entire argument makes very little sense because Vinícius Júnior moves the needle substantially for every single team in Europe. You can't say the same thing about Julián Álvarez.
