Winning in the Champions League is hard enough. Winning big in the Champions League is rare. Scoring seven goals away from home in a knockout tie has never happened before.

It's remarkable that this Arsenal team, one who entered Tuesday's bout having failed to score in three of their previous four games, became history-makers in Eindhoven. Mikel Arteta doesn't need the world, he just needs to face up against Peter Bosz every week.

It was a record-breaking night for the Gunners, but where does their mammoth victory over PSV rank in their all-time biggest Champions League wins? Let's take a look.

5. 6-0 vs Braga - 2010/11

Arsenal were so often able to make light work of inferior opposition at the Emirates while Arsene Wenger was overseeing the Gunners' slick passing game.

They were able to overwhelm visitors under the light with their magnetic possession play, and Portuguese side Braga - then making their Champions League bow - couldn't get near them in their 2010/11 group stage opener.

Captain Cesc Fabregas was the star of the show as he scored twice on the night, while Carlos Vela also notched a brace. Andrey Arshavin and Marouane Chamakh were the other goalscorers.

Braga enacted revenge at home in the reverse fixture, claiming a 2-0 win.

4. 6-0 vs Ludogorets - 2016/17

We all remember Mesut Ozil's last-gasp heroics in Razgrad which ensured the Gunners completed a dramatic comeback having fallen 2-0 behind. Less memorably, Arsenal's 3-2 victory arrived after they'd ruthlessly cast aside Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets in north London.

Alexis Sanchez's delightful chip to open the scoring was the game's highlight, while Ozil, amid a prolific start to the 2016/17 campaign, netted a second-half hat-trick which added plenty of gloss to an already comfortable scoreline.

Arsenal were in total control after Theo Walcott doubled the lead with a fine finish and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struck at the start of the second period.

3. 6-0 vs Lens - 2023/24

Mikel Arteta's side were out for revenge after they'd succumbed to Ligue 1 side Lens on Matchday 2 of the group stage. The Gunners were sub-par in France after taking the lead, and they quickly learned that any malaise in this competition will be punished.

However, there was no semblance of a blip in the reverse fixture when Lens visited the Emirates in late November. The Gunners were in a rampant mood.

Arsenal had struggled for goals at times during the first half of 2023/24, but they were able to let off some steam here. They were 5-0 up at the interval as they ran riot against a hapless Lens backline which couldn't cope with the penetrative running of Gabriel Martinelli, as well as the canny tight-space abilities of Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. There were five different goalscorers in the first half before Jorginho added a sixth from the penalty spot after half-time.

The emphatic victory secured Arsenal's first knockout stage berth since 2017.

2. 7-1 vs PSV Eindhoven - 2024/25

Eight shots on target. Seven goals. Six different goal scorers. This was some night.

Expectations of a slog in Eindhoven were quickly dispelled as Arsenal scored twice within quick succession around the 20-minute mark before some hapless PSV defending allowed Mikel Merino to pounce and triple the away side's advantage.

A Noa Lang penalty before half-time could've made for a tricky second half, but the riotous Gunners again scored two in quick succession to dash any PSV hope of an unlikely resurgence. Martin Odegaard thrived in the space he was finally afforded as he scored twice thanks to some woeful goalkeeping from Walter Benitez, and there was time for the skipper to tee up the marauding Riccardo Calafiori for Arsenal's seventh.

1. 7-0 vs Slavia Prague - 2007/08

The round of 16 first leg in Eindhoven wasn't the first time Arsenal hit seven in a single Champions League outing. Wenger's Gunners achieved the feat in October 2007 as they put Slavia Prague to the sword.

Their 7-0 beatdown of the Czech giants remains the club's biggest margin of victory in this competition.

Emmanuel Eboue wreaked havoc down the right, Alexander Hleb was divine in the middle of the park, and Walcott scored his first Champions League goal in Arsenal's emphatic victory. The 18-year-old and Fabregas both notched braces at the Emirates in what was a scintillating display; the very best of Wenger-ball.
