Arsenal have established themselves as one of the most forward-thinking clubs in English football following their Premier League triumph, and the Gunners are reportedly using the World Cup period to pursue one of the country's brightest young talents.

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal's recruitment team have identified Morgan Rogers as their priority target for this transfer window, with the attacking midfielder understood to be open to a move from Aston Villa to the Premier League champions.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing an offer in excess of £85 million to test Aston Villa's resolve, although Villa are expected to demand well over £100 million for Morgan Rogers. Any deal would likely surpass the club's current record sale, when Jack Grealish joined Manchester City for £100 million in 2021.

The club are reportedly conscious of the soaring cost of midfielders in today's market and must also factor in a 20 per cent sell-on fee agreed with Middlesbrough as part of his original move to Villa Park.

With Villa facing financial pressures and looking to strengthen multiple areas of their squad this summer, a significant offer could present a difficult decision for Unai Emery and co. While Rogers is regarded as one of the club's most valuable assets, the opportunity to reinvest a substantial transfer fee across the squad may prove tempting for Villa's hierarchy.

No concerns with Rogers

According to the Hand of Arsenal X account, agreeing personal terms with Morgan Rogers is not expected to be an issue, with the primary obstacle remaining the gap between Arsenal's valuation and Aston Villa's asking price.

If those reports are accurate, it would suggest that Rogers is open to a move to the Premier League champions. The versatile attacker could provide competition in several positions, operating either as an attacking midfielder in roles typically occupied by Martin Ødegaard or Eberechi Eze, or from the left flank as part of Arsenal's fluid front line.

The likelihood of Arsenal sanctioning the sale of a first-team player to either help fund the deal or create space within the squad is looking more likely.

It may also be that Arsenal's growing contingent of England internationals, including Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Declan Rice, have helped sell the project to Rogers. A move to the Emirates would offer the 22-year-old the opportunity to compete for major domestic honours, even if it means leaving behind his status as one of Aston Villa's central figures.

The “chilly” celebration could be the next year Gyokeres move going around the red half of North London and the Emirates next year.
