Arsenal have shown interest in Aston VIlla winger Morgan Rogers, and it has made a lot of fans excited about the future.
They already look good, but if they add Rogers to the one position that could be deemed the weakest for them on the pitch, there is a lot more that Arsenal would be able to achieve.
Obviously, nothing is done yet - not even close - but it is good to hear about these sorts of rumblings, and it would be an interesting rumor to follow through the summer, especially with the World Cup looming about.
How Arsenal could line up if they pull off the Morgan Rogers blockbuster
However, if Arsenal were able to pull off this masterstroke of a signing, here is how they could line up in the first game of their new season.
GK David Raya
The obvious choice. Raya was the best goalkeeper in the league this season, no one is going to be replacing him anytime soon.
RB Jurrien Timber
Timber, when fit, was easily a top-three right-back in the league - and had an argument to be made about being top two and potentially top one. Timber may not have the best traits going forward, but when it comes to defending, there is hardly anyone who is better than the Dutch full-back.
CB William Saliba
The French superstar signed a new deal earlier this season, and is expected to keep his place in the starting XI.
CB Gabriel
Gabriel has been an unreal central defender for Arsenal, and similar to Saliba, his time at the club would continue. The best defensive partnership in the world would keep playing together for another season.
LB Riccardo Calafiori
This is a bit tricky because even though Calafiori is really good at left-back, he also has been injured a lot. When he has been injured, Piero Hincapie has come in and done his job really well. So, it is a toss up between the two, but Calafiori edges it solely because when he is fit, he is the better player.
DM Martin Zubimendi
Zubimendi had a rough start to his career at Arsenal. Even though he was playing a fair bit in the first half of the season, there were times where he just looked very sluggish on and off the ball. He will be expected to return to the starting lineup sooner rather than later. However, Zubimendi would have to be at his best, especially with the return of Mikel Merino and the recent uptick in form of Myles Lewis-Skelly.
CM Declan Rice
The best player on this Arsenal team. No question.
CM Martin Odegaard
The captain of this team. Odegaard has not been at his best for a while now, but once he is able to play regularly for the team, the form will return too. All he needs to do is take some risks, and do what he is good at: playing defense-splitting passes.
RW Bukayo Saka
The starboy. Noni Madueke's arrival has given him a lot of rest, which has meant he has played in the last few games of the season in better form. Obviously, Saka would need to improve a lot, and Rogers' potential arrival could help take the burden away from always playing from the Englishman's side, so it should, in theory, help him.
CF Viktor Gyokeres
Gyokeres would need to play better football, but despite his shortcomings, he has still scored 21 goals this season. Expect that to continue and potentially even improve with Rogers, if he joins, as his creativity will definitely help the Swedish striker.
LW Morgan Rogers
The easy pick. Rogers slots right into that spot at left-wing, and it would work like magic, should he join the Gunners. He can also play in Odegaard's position as a CAM if need be, and is more than capable of playing as a second striker. His versatility is one of his biggest traits, and Arteta would use it to its full potential if he does end up joining the biggest club in London.
