The signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United could improve Viktor Gyökeres' goal tally and ease the pressure on the Swede.

Gyökeres has still managed to score 12 Premier League goals in 32 games this season. However, Gunners fans were expecting more, given he scored 39 goals in 33 matches in the Portuguese league last campaign.

The Sweden international was seen as the missing piece between Arsenal winning the league and missing out again this season. The Gunners are still leading the division, but Manchester City are many people's favorites as they have momentum and a game in hand.

There are just four Premier League games remaining this season for Arsenal. So it is unlikely that Gyökeres will become the 20-goal-a-campaign striker that the Gunners needed, at least for this year. If he had been, then Mikel Arteta's side could be sitting comfortably at the top of the Premier League.

How could Anthony Gordon save Viktor Gyökeres' Arsenal career?

Gordon's ability to play on either the left or right wing could make him an assist king for Gyökeres. The Newcastle player is right-footed, so has the ability to whip crosses in for Gyökeres to attack. He can also cut in and pass or shoot on the left flank.

This season, Gordon has scored 17 goals with five assists in 46 games in all competitions. This includes finding the back of the net 10 times in the Champions League. He could also ease the pressure on Gyökeres to score by being a goal threat himself. Gordon can also play as a center-forward, so he could be an option to play alongside Gyökeres up front or be used alternately.

Gordon would have wanted to have made more assists this season. However, he does have Nick Woltemade in front of him at Newcastle, who is not having the best of campaigns. Woltemade has scored just seven Premier League goals in 30 games this season. He is far from a player such as Alexander Isak, whom Gordon linked up so well with in the previous campaign.

Arsenal have shown interest in Gordon in the past, but would now face competition from Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Manchester United for his services. The Magpies are currently 14th in the Premier League, with pressure mounting on Eddie Howe. As Gordon performed so well in the Champions League this season, he would want to join a club in the competition for the next campaign.
