Arsenal eye the same transfer target as Barcelona and Man United

Arsenal are thinking ahead for their future transfer plans. They may wish to sign Jonathan David, a transfer target of Barcelona and Man United.
Arsenal need to sign a striker. This seems like an age-old cliche to say but this season, it's been proven more than last season.
So far this campaign, Arsenal have relied on their defenders to step up and score from set-pieces. A nice option to have but they would also benefit from a central goal-scorer.
Over the last season and a half, it has been Kai Havertz who has played this role. Yes, he's been a good signing but he's not at the standard required to win the Premier League. Therefore, Arsenal would like a more reliable striker.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are currently monitoring Jonathan David, as they could be interested in signing the Canadian forward, if he fits their bill. That said, Arsenal and Man United have also been listed as the main competitors of Barcelona in this potential transfer race.
Of course, Barcelona has one of the best strikers in the world at their disposal. Arsenal need no reminding about Robert Lewandowski but the Poland international is within the final stages of his career. Therefore, Barcelona would also like to sign a striker to replace him.
The striker market is believed to be an active one in the January transfer window, with many of Europe's top clubs in need of a new centre forward. For once, Real Madrid will not be competitors here, so a collective sigh of relief is expected from every other club.
That said, Jonathan David might be targeted in January, but with a future transfer in mind. This is because his contract expires at the end of this season, meaning he is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January.
Without a doubt, Arsenal would benefit from saving some money on David. It does mean they would have to wait an extra few months but it could pay dividends in the long-run. Either that, or David could be sold for a bargain in January - A win-win, if the Gunners can get ahead of the competition.
