Mikel Arteta has recently made a telling analysis of Arsenal's summer transfer window. While he's happy so far, he knows that Arsenal isn't finished.
Good morning, Arsenal fans. And happy Monday! It's been a long while since Arsenal fans have been able to say that during the transfer window. Even during the Edu era, when things were looking more positive than before, there was still a feeling that more could be achieved transfer-wise.
Well, Andre Berta has taken what Edu achieved and, frankly, made it seem insignificant in comparison. Berta isn't just cooking a barbecue, he's cooking up an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Mikel Arteta wants more from Andrea Berta
Mikel Arteta is a very happy man. He feels like he's getting the backing he needs to steer his project in the right direction. However, much like the Arteta we all know and love, he's not yet satisfied and he wants more.
In his own words, Arteta said: “We are so happy, Andrea Berta is doing an excellent job… and it’s still early in the window. In terms of numbers, we are still short."
It's those four words which will spark a frenzy among Arsenal fans of the best kind. "We are still short" suggests that Mikel Arteta will push for more transfers.
Who do Arsenal sign next?
So far, Arsenal has announced the signing of Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
So, Arsenal has strengthened in every position, except the one that matters the most. While the Gunners are grateful, the fanbase won't be settled until a talisman is signed. And we're not talking Kai Havertz, we're talking a serious killer who will bag enough goals to lift the title.
And Viktor Gyokeres is the closest thing Arsenal has to them. Thankfully, Gyokeres is hungry for Arsenal, and he is holding out for a move to North London. Arsenal seriously need to pounce here.
Could Mikel Arteta be hinting at a Viktor Gyokeres bomba?
