Arsenal have Eberechi Eze high on their list of transfer targets as they look to bolster their attacking options, according to the Athletic's David Ornstein.

The Gunners are yet to have made contact with Crystal Palace, but are seriously considering the possibility of making a move for their FA Cup winning star. Mikel Arteta's side are the only club to hold this level of interest in Eze while Tottenham have not targeted him to date.

It was reported Arsenal made contact with Eze's camp over the weekend and their decision to place him high on their list of attacking targets likely means a move could be very possible.

Eze has a release clause worth in excess of £60m in his Palace contract, but if Arsenal are to proceed with a deal, they would try secure it for below that price.

Whether the Gunners can acquire him for the clause fee or less, Eze is likely to be an expensive purchase and that may mean a sale could be required to facilitate it. The Athletic report that it is currently unclear if a player would have to leave the Emirates Stadium in order to fund a deal.

Some initially thought the England international was one of Arsenal's options in the wide area, which prompted comparisons to fellow target Rodrygo. However, Ornstein revealed the Gunners' interest in Eze is seperate to their hunt for a striker and winger, meaning he would be a third addition in attack if moves for the other two positions are successful.

That would mean a lot of money being spent by Arsenal, but as they have the option to offload some unwanted players this summer, they should be able to back such transfers financially. A departure for Oleksandr Zinchenko looks likely while others such as Albert Sambi Lokonga, Reiss Nelson and Karl Hein could also make permanent moves away.

A move for Eze would be great for the Gunners, who are in serious need of depth throughout the squad and especially in attack. Palace's star man is very versatile and is capable of playing as both a number 10 and a left winger, both areas in which Arsenal need more competition.

The lack of serious interest from any other clubs should also bode well for Arteta's side. With no other side currently ready to compete, they could have a free run at trying to secure Eze's services.

It's now clear that Arsenal hold Eze in high regard, placing him among the very best in their list of transfer targets. A potential deal is beginning to look more likely and while nothing is concrete yet, a move would be exciting. However, he isn't the only versatile option, with Noni Madueke and Morgan Rogers also of interest, but he does seem the most likely for now.
