Arsenal loaned him out, and he only found out from Fabrizio Romano

He learned at the same time as all of us that he was gone.

Fabrizio Romano is known as the transfer oracle among soocer fans. Little did we know that even this Arsenal player relied on him to hear about his next move.

All in all, Arsenal had a brilliant summer transfer window. They strengthened in key positions and, for the most part, shipped out players that didn't need to be there. Now, Mikel Arteta has achieved great squad depth and balance for the season ahead.

In an ideal world, Arsenal wouldn't have needed to ship out anyone. But this is just part and parcel of the sport, especially for a club competing at Arsenal's level.

One of those players to be shipped out of Arsenal was Jakub Kiwior. The Poland defender is now on loan at Portuguese side Porto, after Arsenal secured Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen as his replacement.

Jakub Kiwior learned about Arsenal loan from Fabrizio Romano

According to Kiwior himself (quoted by FourFourTwo), Jakub Kiwior was not fully aware that the loan move to Porto was complete and he was even prepared to train for Arsenal while Fabrizio Romano broke the news. His friends and family congratulated him, but he wasn't informed that the deal was done.

In his own words, Kiwior said: “Fabrizio Romano announced ‘here we go’, and I started receiving dozens of messages and calls congratulating me. I was starting training… The players saw it on their phones and asked me why I had put on my kit if it was already closed."

“I refused to say goodbye there because I still didn’t have information about what might or might not happen. The next day I returned, already knowing I could say goodbye.

“I went to the pitch to say goodbye to my teammates and the coach. They set up a farewell tunnel, and it was tough… I didn’t have everyone I wanted to say goodbye to, and I still had to make some phone calls.”

Jakub Kiwior's Arsenal journey isn't over yet (but it's close)

Jakub Kiwior will surely make a name for himself on loan. Arsenal fans know that he's a killer defender with a great attitude to succeed. He's rarely looked out of place in the Arsenal starting eleven, so he'll crush it at Porto's elite level.

For Arsenal, Kiwior just doesn't move the needle enough. Arsenal is in a "now or never" season where the feeling is that they need to win the Premier League or the Champions League. So, they need players who can do this for them.

Kiwior is good, but he's not that good. Who knows? He may prove even Mikel Arteta wrong while out on loan in Portugal. We think Arteta would gladly be proven wrong about Kiwior.
