Arsenal are set to move forward in talks to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa as they prepare to bid for the versatile midfielder, according to multiple reports.

The Gunners have been interested in the England international since first emerging as a serious contender to sign him in late May. His potential price tag has been subject to plenty of discussion, but it does not appear to have swayed Mikel Arteta's side as they prepare to accelerate negotiations.

The news emerges following a busy few days for Arsenal in the transfer window and it is a sign that the North Londoners are finally getting down to business in the market.

Arsenal set to accelerate Morgan Rogers talks

Having agreed a deal to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge earlier today, the Gunners are moving forward in their attempt to sign Rogers, supporting consistent reports that their pursuit of both players is separate.

Fabrizio Romano claims the Aston Villa man is a top target for Arsenal as a new winger so it is entirely possible that he could be joining the North London side primarily as a wide option rather than as an attacking midfielder.

Talks are reportedly already advanced on Rogers' side, with Andrea Berta and Co. currently prioritising him and not in negotiations to sign Bradley Barcola.

Ben Jacobs revealed the Gunners have already held talks with both Villa and Rogers and are preparing to bid for him, with club-to-club talks expected to speed up following the conclusion of the World Cup.

Having came through the ranks at Manchester City, the winger spent consecutive seasons away on loan before joining Middlesbrough ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. His outstanding performances in the Championship and in a run to the semi-finals of the League Cup saw him move to Villa midway through the term and he has been a crucial asset for Unai Emery's team since.

Rogers has scored 31 goals and provided 29 assists in 125 appearances for the West Midlands side and proved to be an important part of their Europa League winning side last season, scoring in a 3-0 win over SC Freiburg in the final.

He has also become a regular feature in the England squad, receiving 21 caps and scoring once. He was named in the Three Lions squad for the 2026 World Cup and has featured in six games at the tournament, assisting Anthony Gordon's opener in Wednesday night's semi-final defeat to Argentina.

Arsenal could have a task on their hands in negotiations as Elliot Anderson 's £116million move to Man City has prompted Villa fans to claim Rogers is worth a lot more than his international teammate. The player himself doubted he is worth as much as £130m, but his club will do their utmost to get the highest fee possible.

Regardless of how difficult talks may be, the Gunners are ready to move forward in discussions for Rogers and that shows, along with their recent agreement for Tzolis, that they are finally ready to dive into some serious business in the transfer window.
