Arsenal fans may be about to get the dream signing that they have been craving all summer if a French sports media company are to be believed.
Announcing an exclusive on social media site X, Sports Zone have confidently published that an opening bid is about to be made and that Arsenal could trigger the much publicised release clause.
The Standard are convinced enough to publish the source online and share the details of the clause.
How Eberechi Eze would improve the team
Arsenal fans have made no secret about their desire to secure the signing of Crystal Palace's cup winner. Whether he plays through the middle or on the left, Eze will improve the team.
Eberechi Eze: 2024-25 Premier League Stats*
Per 90 | Rank | |
---|---|---|
Goals | 0.28 | 66.9 |
xG | 0.36 | 87.6 |
Shots | 3.53 | 93.4 |
Assists | 0.28 | 77.7 |
xA | 0.16 | 57.7 |
Chances created | 2.01 | 81.8 |
Successful dribbles | 2.32 | 86.8 |
The signing of Eze could alter Arsenal's attacking style. In comparison to Martin Odegaard, Eze travels with the ball more effectively than the Norwegian. Eze completed 2.32 successful dribbles per 90 minutes last season, compared with 0.97 for Odegaard.
Eze has the potential to bring more goals with him if he travels across London to the Emirates this summer. Averaging 1.64 shots more per game than Odegaard and 0.16 more goals, it is easy to understand why Arteta and Andrea Berta are so keen on Eze.

At 27-years-old, Eze has the experience needed to hit the ground running as an Arsenal player. Eze takes the attacking options at Arteta's disposal to another level. And that's where he says that he wants to be.
In addition to the possibility of signing Eze, Arsenal fans will be delighted with the form of both Ethan Nwaneri and Odegaard in pre-season. But this is no time for Gunners fans to be romantic about the development of Nwaneri, or nostalgic about what Odegaard has already done.
The signing of Eberechi Eze is imperative
If Arsenal are genuinely going to compete on all fronts this season then the signing of Eberechi Eze is imperative.
The emergence of Arsenal youngster Max Dowman will bring added hope for the Gunners, who have historically utilised the early rounds of the domestic cup competitions to blood their academy stars. The confidence and skill that he has already demonstrated in Singapore suggests that he may get his fair share of minutes on the pitch next season.

If Sports Zone are correct and Arsenal table their first bid soon, they would do well to make it an offer that Palace would be willing to accept. Bidding well under the release clause might be understandable given the player's age but if Arsenal are serious about being Premier League title contenders, the deal for Eze is not one they should be playing hardball over.
Should Berta be successful in bringing Eze, Kepa, Mosquera, Norgaard, Zubimendi, Madueke, and Gyokeres in this summer, it could well go down as the best transfer window in Arsenal's history.
