Arsenal might have to sell players to fund its summer spending spree, and Leandro Trossard could be one who is shown the door.
The summer window for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, and Andrea Berta has been perhaps one of the best in recent memory, with a handful of players set to eventually be signed.
But with that comes the need to balance the books, and considering that the Gunners are still wanting wide help in the form of Rodrygo or Eberechi Eze, and we have seen reports that both might be in Arsenal's sights, although we think that might be asking for too much.
However, if one were to be signed, the Gunners might have to look to offload some players to finance the move, and considering that Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard, and Noni Madueke are the wide options, if Eze or Rodrygo were to come in, someone will have to leave.
And while we weren't sure if that was going to be an option for the Gunners, as it turns out, it might have to be.
Gunners might look to move on from Trossard
Given how much Arsenal has already forked out money-wise and with no sales from players leaving, something has to give.
And for Sami Mokbel of the BBC, in speaking with Latte Firm, it might be Trossard who departs the Emirates.
“Leandro Trossard leaving is a situation Arsenal are not ruling out," Mokbel said.
"I reported myself they’re talking over a pay rise, there’s an acceptance at Arsenal that the current deal he’s on is not a reflection of his output and importance. Terms of his contract talks, those are still ongoing. If he does end up staying, I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed that contract & there would be a financial reward for him to stay.”
The Belgian might have to move onto new pastures if Arsenal wants to add to their wide area depth and previous reports have suggest they could look to bring in about £20million for a sale of the winger.
A superb servant of the club since arriving, Trossard leaving would be bittersweet, but football is a harsh business, and maybe, a fan favorite might have to make way.
