Eberechi Eze reveals the Arsenal player who has exceeded his expectations

Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze has just revealed the teammate who has exceeded his expectations the most since joining the club in the summer.

Eze joined Arsenal when they were in desperate search of some creativity and magic in midfield and attack. Not only could Eze pop up in midfield when they need inspiration, but he could also play on the left wing and act as a wide playmaker.

He has not had the start he has wanted, at least in terms of statistics, but everyone knows Eze is a brilliant football player with loads to offer.

He has been training with his Arsenal teammates for a few months now, and that has given him enough time to realise which player has exceeded his expectations the most, and the answer will actually surprise a lot of people, at least at first.

Eberechi Eze seems to be a fan of Jurrien Timber, and rightfully so

When asked about it on Goal's Beast Mode On Podcast, Eze revealed that it was actually Jurrien Timber.

He said: “One player who has gone even beyond the high expectation I already had (at Arsenal), because I'd heard good things about him, was Jurrien Timber. He's a special player and a special guy.

 “I think for me, in an environment of people and you have a culture that is geared towards improving, these guys all want to improve.

“So for me it's a pleasure to be part of it and to see guys like him who perform the way they perform, who carry themselves the way they carry themselves.

“It’s inspiring, for sure.”

It was surprising that he did not say players like Martin Odegaard, or Bukayo Saka, or even the two starting centre-backs that Arsenal have in Gabriel and William Saliba.

Instead, he went for a different option in Timber. If you think about it, at first, you are surprised, but when you actually consider what Timber brings to the table, then it makes complete sense as to why Eze may have gone for him.

He said that he already has high expectations from the players at Arsenal, but to see just how much Timber has improved in such a short span of time is genuinely baffling.

Timber joined and was immediately out for a long period due to an injury he picked up.

To come back from that injury and become one of the best right-backs in world football is no easy task. Timber also just seems the kind of a person who would always want to improve. Eze mentioned that, and he spoke about how inspiring it is to be around people like that.

So, Timber may not be the first player that comes to mind after that question, but that does not mean he is any less deserving of the title. Truly, a special player.
