Everybody knows the real reason Arsenal hasn't signed Piero Hincapie yet

If it feels like it's done, why isn't it done?

With just under 30 minutes remaining in the summer transfer window, Arsenal hasn't officially signed Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen. The consensus is that the deal will be complete soon, but until Arsenal says it's done, there will always be concern among the Arsenal faithful.

However, Arsenal fans shouldn't worry. Even if the church bells start to chime at 7:00pm BST, and the Gunners still haven't said a word about Hincapie, it doesn't mean it's over.

In fact, transfer announcements aren't nearly as important as they once were, anyway. Regardless, there is a misconception around them that Arsenal fans must be wary of.

BBC Sport: Arsenal can wait until tomorrow if they want

An update from BBC Sport's live transfer deadline day blog suggests that Arsenal don't even need to announce Piero Hincapie tonight.

BBC Sport, known as one of the most reputable news venders out there, has suggested that clubs are under no time constraint to announce players. The 7:00 pm BST deadline only applies to official documentation. If that's all signed and sealed in time, it's up to clubs how long they wait to confirm new signings to the world.

In their own words, BBC Sport said: "Of course, as long as all the relevant paperwork is complete before the 19:00 BST deadline then there's no need to make an official announcement tonight. Some clubs may even decide to wait until the morning."

Arsenal is known to take a long time to officially confirm new signings. This could be due to a few reasons, either they like to meticulously plan transfer announcements, or the club gets a kick out of leaving fans on the edge of their seat and anxious, just like in-game. Probably the latter, let's be honest.

Of course, there is another element of this transfer which we must not forget.

Piero Hincapie is signed to replace Jakub Kiwior, at least short-term. Jakub Kiwior is still technically an Arsenal player, as his exit hasn't been officially confirmed yet.

So, it's likely that Arsenal is waiting for Kiwior to officially leave the club before they can announce the signing of Hincapie. At least that's what Arsenal fans would hope.
