December has been the month for injury returnees at Arsenal. They've had so many injuries this season that it's actually difficult to keep count.
So many strikers, defenders, and midfielders have gone injured in the last few months that it's actually been really difficult, as an Arsenal fan, to believe what they have been seeing.
Luckily, the players they have had on the pitch in their absence have also been exceptional, and that is why Arsenal are still at the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables.
It has not been pretty sometimes, but Arsenal are getting the job done on a very consistent level, which is what matters when you have so many injuries to take care of.
One of those players who has been really, really unlucky with injuries is Gabriel Jesus, who missed 11 months of action through an ACL injury that was very difficult for him and the club.
He has now returned, and he is currently in good form.
Gabriel Jesus just explained what Gabriel Magalhães’ return really meant
After the win over Brighton, he was asked about another one of the players who had faced time away from the pitch due to injuries.
Jesus was asked about his namesake, Gabriel Magalhães, who was injured for a few months this season and only returned in the game against Brighton.
Jesus, when asked about it, talked about how important it was for his Brazilian and Arsenal teammate to return, and it was great to see.
He said: “As everyone could see yesterday against Brighton, it changed our back line when Gabi came on. We had been conceding chances but when he stepped on the pitch you can see the difference, he is a leader, he is a beast at defending. It is a massive, massive boost for us that he is coming back.”
Of all people, Jesus would get it better than anyone how it is to leave the game due to an injury and be out for a few months recovering from it.
It is good to watch the Brazilian's return, and it is also good to see what Jesus thought of Gabriel's impact when he actually stepped on the pitch and how they improved when he was there.
Gabriel is like a leader for the Arsenal defence, so it is very, very obvious to see why Jesus thinks so highly of him.
I think the return for Gabriel is going to be really important for Arsenal going forward, especially with how many games they have been playing so far.
To have another set of hands on deck, especially of arguably the best central defender in world football at the moment, is going to be great. And I'm sure the fan base shares Jesus's sentiments as well.
