Gabriel Jesus has provided an update on his comeback from an injury that kept him out of the second half of Arsenal's 2024/25 season and the timing is hilariously ironic.

The Brazilian told the Standard he is "feeling great" as he nears the end of rehabilitation following the "biggest injury" of his career. Looking back on the spell of form he was enjoying prior to the massive setback, Jesus admitted he is having to hold himself back on making his return.

The timing of his update is simply hilarious and ironic as it came just days before Arsenal host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium, one of the teams he has enjoyed playing against the most and who he began his redemption arc against.

Since first moving to the Premier League in 2016, Jesus has enjoyed meeting Palace, scoring seven goals in 15 matches against the Eagles. He has only scored more against Everton and Watford (eight).

He began his return to form against Oliver Glasner's side last season when he scored a hat-trick to help his side come from behind and beat Palace 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. He then went on to score another two goals against them just days later in a thumping 5-1 win at Selhurst Park.

After also finding the back of the net against Brentford, his redemption arc was cruelly cut short when he suffered a season-ending ACL injury during an FA Cup tie against Manchester United.

He has been on the long road to recovery and is now almost ready to make his return to action, nearly a year after his setback. Speaking to the Standard, he said: "My knee is responding very well. So now I’m looking forward to being around the team again soon, to come back to do what I love to do."

Of course, the timing of his update is brilliant considering Arsenal face one of his favourites teams to play tomorrow, but there's no denying he won't be available for selection tomorrow. Regardless, it's brilliant to see that he is almost ready to be back playing.

It was so unfortunate to see him be ruled out for a long period after enjoying a great run of form and fans will only be hoping he can resume that once he finally steps back onto the pitch in Gunners colours.

Who knows, maybe he's even been giving his teammates some tips on how to break through the Palace defence.
