Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber was pleased with his team's ability to fight through adversity in the 1-0 win over Wolves.

Arsenal managed to claim a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves to move to second in the Premier League, but it was far from a sure thing.

Myles Lewis-Skelly was shown a straight red for "serious foul play" with minutes left in the first half and the Gunners were forced to play the rest of the contest with 10 men.

Despite that, and being on the road, through Riccardo Calafiori's second-half strike, the Gunners were able to claim a vital three points that keep them within striking distance of league leaders Liverpool, albeit just.

In a hostile environment, to not wilt under the pressure, or let the red card mentally derail the minds of the players, the Gunners stuck to their task and pulled out a win against the odds.

For defender Jurrien Timber, he couldn't be happier with how the team responded after Myles' red card.

“It’s reacting to that adversity you know, I think the character of this group can bring us really far," Timber said via arsenal.com. "Also, we have amazing players, a lot of belief in this group that we can achieve amazing things, just have to keep going, still a long way to go and I have a lot of trust in them and we showed again why we are this good.”

With the Gunners up against it, they needed all the help they could get in an attempt to move past the red card and push forward to try and win the game.

That's where the away fans answered the call and never let up as they helped push the team to the win, and don't think it wasn't noticed.

“The fans were massive, they pushed us through,” Timber added. “You can feel the energy, I think that’s really important, that connection between the players and the fans. That’s such a massive thing sometimes it’s underestimated but I think they really pushed us through and you see the goal that we scored, the energy that comes out of there, feels really good.”

Attention now turns to Girona in the Champions League midweek as the Gunners look to secure progression to the next round before a crunch clash against Manchester City at the Emirates.

It was a tough afternoon against Wolves, but the Gunners through their willingness to adapt to the adversity, coupled with the away fans pushing them on, claimed a win against the odds to keep the title charge alive.
