Leroy Sane has responded to transfer talk linking him with a return to the Premier League, and it's not what Arsenal supporters would've wanted to hear.
The Gunners have endured a tough opening three months to what promised to be an exciting 2024/25 season following back-to-back title charges. This was meant to be the campaign that saw Arsenal get over the hump, but the north Londoners are already nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.
It's been a slog for the Gunners thus far, and a four-game winless slide before the November break has a once-optimistic fanbase veering towards pessimism. We can only hope the return of Martin Odegaard from a lengthy injury layoff inspires a resurgence up until the new year.
Odegaard's absence has seen Arsenal struggle offensively, with Arteta leaning on the physicality of his side at the expense of their attacking exuberance. Several individuals have underperformed, with some suggesting the club require further reinforcements in advanced areas if they are to break their Premier League title duck.
Leroy Sane responds to Arsenal transfer links
Arsenal are already being linked with a whole host of attacking stars for the 2025 transfer windows. Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, and Alexander Isak are among the strikers reportedly on the club's radar, but the Gunners have also been linked with Bayern's Sane.
Arteta worked with the German international at Manchester City, and supporters caught a glimpse of the winger's devastating talent first-hand when the two clubs faced off in the Champions League quarter-finals last season. Jakub Kiwior still has nightmares.
Injuries and the arrival of Michael Olise means Sane has so far endured a subdued 2024, and he's entered the final year of his contract in Bavaria. His current situation sparked rumours over a potential move in 2025, but Sane has poured cold water on a potential exit.
Speaking to German outlet Bild (via Fabrizio Romano) about a potential return to the Premier League, the winger said: “I follow Premier League football. But the attraction for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles. I have that at FC Bayern. We keep talking."
There have not yet been reports of Bayern opening talks with the player over an extension, but Sane's recent comments suggest he'll soon engage with the club. His priority is remaining in Munich and a Arteta reunion is clearly not on his radar just yet.
