Mikel Arteta praised Eberechi Eze's excellent attitude, but also pushed him to be even more decisive in Arsenal games, ahead of their match against Chelsea.

Eze has been great in a few games for Arsenal, but in other games, he has been very inconsistent in a challenging first season at the club.

There is no doubt at Arsenal about Eze's tremendous quality, but the club does want him to perform better than he has so far this season.

Eze himself would want the same, as scoring against only two teams all season is not what the club or the player had signed up for in August.

Arteta was asked about the player's attitude, as well as what he would want him to do in the next games, to which he gave a response that would really help the player as well.

He said: "You see how players react in relation to certain decisions that you take. When you have better games, when you have certain difficulties throughout the games.

"His role has been modified a few times throughout the season, his reaction has always been top - that’s what we need, because he’s been exceptional in the manner that he’s behaving every single day.

"What we need is for those manners to be transformed into huge performances that decide who matches, that’s the reason why we bought him."

Eze would personally like what Arteta just said about him, primarily because he pushed him while also praising his attitude so far.

Eze would probably be the first person to know that he has not been playing well, but having a great attitude despite that is really tough for many players. Eze being able to manage that is a huge positive for the manager, as it shows that he is a player who constantly wants to improve no matter what.

And some of it is not entirely his fault, either. Eze has missed a few games. He has had difficulties with continuity, both in terms of minutes as well as playing in the same position every week.

He has moved from an attacking midfielder to a winger a bunch of times, which sometimes can cause trouble, especially when you are not performing well.

So, Eze is definitely trying to improve, and as everyone saw against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday, the results and goals are coming, but Arteta just needs them to happen more often.

Everyone knows Eze can do it, because he is a brilliant football player. These sorts of transitional years are hard for many players, and Arteta would hope that Eze is able to put this behind him as soon as possible.
