Arsenal have announced that Alessia Russo has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal and it could be their most important deal of the summer so far.
Russo joined the Gunners in July 2023 and has scored a substantial 36 goals in 72 appearances for the Arsenal. Leading the line, she has helped the club win the League Cup in 2024 and the Champions League in 2025.
International success followed when she was a key player in the Lionesses side that brought home the Euro 2025 trophy.
The 25-year-old has improved year-on-year. After bagging 16 goals in 31 appearances in her first season at the club, she managed 20 in 41 during the last campaign.
Arsenal's 2024/25 Golden Boot winner

Russo's impressive 12 goals in 21 league appearances earned her the 2024/25 Barclay's Women's Super League Golden Boot trophy – a trophy that she will be keen to retain no doubt.
Russo is a real team player and is always quick to acknowledge the contribution of her teammates and staff at the club.
Speaking to the Arsenal website, one of the reasons that she gives for her (and Arsenal's) success is the high standard of training at the club.
"The level of players that we have, the standard of training, the demands of training as well from the staff is really, really high.“
Russo comes across as an absolute perfectionist, always striving to get the most out of herself and her team. She leads the line this way.
“I want to keep progressing as a player, but also we want to carry on winning trophies. After last season, we felt that we can perform to the highest level and now we want to do that consistently over the season,“ she told the Arsenal website.
Russo is already a Champions League legend

Among the highlights so far, Arsenal's number 23 bagged a brace in the Champions League quarter-final comeback win against Real Madrid and another in the semi-final against Lyon.
Having already been nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, Russo is fast becoming a household name in football. Recognised as a player who works tirelessly for her team, it's easy to understand why.
Head Coach Renée Slegers added, in an interview with Arsenal's official website: “Alessia is a really important part of our group and I’m so pleased that she has signed a new deal here. As a striker, Alessia’s goals often take the spotlight – but she brings so much more to our group.“
Arsenal fans will be delighted by the news.
