Heading into the summer transfer window, Arsenal are expected to seek a goalkeeper acquisition. This is because as previously reported, Aaron Ramsdale is tipped for a summer exit.

As things stand, Karl Hein is the third choice goalkeeper so with Aaron Ramsdale sold, Hein would step up the hierarchy to become the second in command.

Needless to say, Hein lacks the experience should he be called upon with any David Raya injury or suspension. Therefore, a new backup goalkeeper will be signed.

4 goalkeepers Mikel Arteta may sign to replace Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal

Various reports today indicate that Arsenal have forged a four man shortlist to replace Aaron Ramsdale. Here is the quartet considered by Mikel Arteta...

1. Wojciech Szczesny

Yep, you read that right.

As reported by Pain in the Arsenal earlier today, Arsenal are considering a shocking move to re-sign former academy player Wojciech Szczesny.

The Polish international spent five years in the first-team under Arsene Wenger, so he is in contention to play under his former teammate Mikel Arteta to contribute to his new project.

2. Jason Steele

One player who is used to squad rotation is Jason Steele. Unlike the Englishman at Arsenal he could be replacing, though, Steele has still managed to make 16 Premier League starts for Brighton and Hove Albion.

As per Standard, Jason Steele is one of the goalkeepers considered by Mikel Arteta to potentially replace Aaron Ramsdale.

3. Diant Ramaj

Another player linked to Arsenal by Standard is Ajax mainstay Diant Ramaj. Needless to say, he would be the perfect goalkeeper to play under Mikel Arteta due to his immense ball-playing style and distribution, both of which are assets valued by Arteta.

However, as stated within the report, it is unlikely that Ramaj would settle for being a backup goalkeeper. After all, he is just 22 years old and tipped to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, as things stand.

4. Jordan Pickford

According to TEAMTALK, Arsenal are considering throwing a spanner into the works to sign Chelsea transfer target Jordan Pickford. The England international, like Ramaj, is a player who fits the Arteta prototype, being good with the ball at his feet.

It must be said, though, that Pickford is the number one for a Premier League side, so like Ramaj, question marks should be raised as to whether or not he would be willing to play a rotational role.
