Mikel Arteta is expected to name a young starting XI for Wednesday's Carabao Cup third-round tie against Bolton, and 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter is among the academy starlets set to get the nod.

The Gunners have a unique goalkeeper crisis for Wednesday's game, with back-up goalkeeper Neto, who joined the club from Bournemouth at the end of the summer window, cup-tied having already appeared in the competition for the Cherries.

With Karl Hein out on loan and David Raya picking up a minor knock at the weekend, Arsenal have been forced to turn to an unknown academy starlet between the posts.

It's worth noting that Raya, arguably Arsenal's standout performer of the season so far, is expected to return for Saturday's Premier League clash against Leicester. There's no reason to be overly concerned on that front.

With multiple keepers absent on Wednesday, including injured teenage summer signing Tommy Setford, 16-year-old Porter is in line for a shock debut.

The teenager has trained on-and-off with the first team over the past couple of years and is highly-regarded in Hale End quarters. Just in case you want to feel old, the kid was born in 2008!

Porter is an England youth international and currently a part of Arsenal's U18s. He signed his scholarship with the club in the summer, and has been involved in a couple of senior matchday squads. The 16-year-old travelled to Bergamo last week for the Gunners' Champions League opener against Atalanta.

The young goalkeeper is set to be one of several youngsters to feature in Arteta's starting XI on Wednesday, with Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly likely to make their first senior starts. Ayden Heaven may also be called upon in defence.

Jurrien Timber and Ben White are among the first-teamers who are set to miss Bolton's visit. Timber limped off with cramp at the end of Sunday's chaos, while Arteta confirmed that White played the second half at the Etihad through injury.
