Arsenal are gunning for three wins from three to kick off the 2024/25 Premier League season when they host Brighton this weekend.

The Gunners open up Matchday 3 at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon, with the Seagulls heading up to north London having also won their opening two games of the new campaign.

A former bogey team of Mikel Arteta's men, Arsenal secured two convincing wins over Brighton last term, and the boss will be aiming for another assured triumph on Saturday to further lay down their title credentials.

Gabriel Jesus was added to the injury list last weekend, with the Brazilian joining Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney on the sidelines, but his setback is not believed to be overly problematic and he could yet return to the matchday squad this weekend.

Here's how Arsenal could line up against Brighton.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya (GK) - The Golden Glove holder has enjoyed a superb start to the season, and he was hugely responsible for Arsenal claiming three points at Aston Villa last weekend. His save to deny Ollie Watkins was one of his best yet.

Ben White (RB) - I wonder which Brighton player will be getting a booted White ball to the torso this weekend?

William Saliba (CB) - After a sloppy beginning to the season against Wolves, Saliba did not miss a beat on the big occasion against Aston Villa. He remains in the starting lineup - obviously.

Gabriel (CB) - A Gabriel error almost led to a first-half opener for the hosts last weekend, but the Brazilian steadied himself thereafter. While Arteta now has alternatives, big Gab remains Saliba's first choice partner. His aggression will be key to stifling Brighton in possession.

Jurrien Timber (LB) - Riccardo Calafiori will earn a start soon, and it may well be on Saturday. However, I suspect Arteta will keep his faith in Timber despite his underwhelming display at Villa Park.

Midfielders

Thomas Partey (DM) - Partey sealed Arsenal's win at Villa with a strike from the edge of the area, but Mikel Merino's arrival surely means the Ghanaian's time as the starting holder is drawing to a close with Declan Rice set to emerge as the preferred option. Partey has so much quality with the ball, but he doesn't supply the requisite control on a week-to-week basis.

Declan Rice (CM) - Merino could earn minutes in this role on Saturday, but a start is unlikely. Rice hasn't enjoyed the best of starts to the new season, but he won't be dropped for the Seagulls' visit.

Martin Odegaard (CM) - It's been a fairly subdued opening for the skipper, who's probed without too much success at the start of the new season. He has, however, performed well against Brighton in recent meetings.

Forwards

Bukayo Saka (RW) - Saka has been the moments man for Arsenal at the start of 2024/25. He's been heavily involved in all four goals thus far, and another big performance awaits the starboy.

Kai Havertz (ST) - Jesus may be fit to return to the matchday squad, but Havertz's place as the starting striker is secure this weekend. With Brighton set to deploy a high defensive line, the German's canny movement will be key.

Leandro Trossard (LW) - After making an immediate impact off the bench at Villa Park, Trossard should come in for Gabriel Martinelli this weekend. The Belgian scored against his former club in April.
