There are too many permutations to consider, but we know that a win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday will all but guarantee Arsenal's place in the Champions League round of 16.
The Gunners have been efficient rather than spectacular in the competition so far, with four victories and a handy draw in Bergamo leaving Mikel Arteta's side third in the league phase table.
The top eight will progress straight into the last 16 and avoid the extra burden of two play-off games next month. For an Arsenal team running on fumes and aiming to hunt down Liverpool at the Premier League summit, the incentives are clear.
Wholesale changes are unlikely from Saturday's draw with Aston Villa as Arteta prepares to battle Fabio Cannavaro - yes, that one - on the sidelines. Here's how Arsenal could line up on Wednesday night.
Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Dinamo Zagreb
Goalkeeper & Defenders
David Raya (GK) - Clean sheets have been hard to come by as of late, but Raya has proven impenetrable at home in the Champions League this term.
Jurrien Timber (RB) - We can't have Thomas Partey at right-back again, surely?! Timber filled in ably at centre-back on Saturday, but Arsenal are a better side with the Dutchman, not the Ghanaian, down the right flank.
Jakub Kiwior (CB) - William Saliba is expected to miss out again, and Arteta would be wise to draft Kiwior back into his defence. Using the Pole on his 'weaker' side isn't ideal, but he has functioned there before.
Gabriel (CB) - The Brazilian has been brilliant as of late, proving at the weekend that he doesn't need Saliba's hand to shine. Gabriel will take charge of the defence on Wednesday.
Myles Lewis-Skelly (LB) - The burgeoning teenager continues to thrive and he sought to take responsibility when Arsenal were chasing three points on Saturday. The kid's special.
Midfielders
Jorginho (DM) - The experienced midfielder could yet depart the club before the end of the month, but Arteta should consider him here given Partey's recent workload. Jorginho should look at ease in games of this nature.
Declan Rice (CM) - Rice is trying to grab this stagnating, injury-hit outfit by the scruff of the neck. He's found his best form over the past couple of months after a tired opening to the season.
Martin Odegaard (CM) - There's been plenty of MNF analysis on Arsenal's captain this season, with Jamie Carragher the latest to notice Odegaard's conservatism. The Gunners haven't got the very best out of their chief playmaker since Bukayo Saka tore his hamstring.
Forwards
Raheem Sterling (RW) - Arsenal's wing dynamics have changed since Saka succumbed. The Gunners have proven to be rather effective at hitting the byline and delivering the ball into the box. Sterling has come back into Arteta's thinking after returning from a knee injury, and he could be rotated into the team for Gabriel Martinelli on Wednesday.
Kai Havertz (ST) - The German was back on the scoresheet at the weekend, but it was his handball which denied a late winner. Havertz should have chances to add to his Champions League goal tally here.
Leandro Trossard (LW) - At least Trossard's tried to step up as of late. After ending his goal drought in the North London Derby, the Belgian impressed against Villa and recorded a pair of assists.
