A sink-or-swim North London Derby is on the horizon for Arsenal, who enter Wednesday's bout having suffered back-to-back home defeats.
The Gunners' recent woes has slimmed their chances of silverware greatly this season, but the 2024/25 campaign is not dead yet. Liverpool are not a Manchester City-like force at the Premier League summit.
However, Arsenal have little margin for error and a sustained run of profligacy will end their title chances in a hurry. This is a must-win for multiple reasons, with some supporters starting to question the direction Arteta's project is heading in.
The injury bug continues to bite, and Arsenal will be without several key players for Wednesday's derby. Here's the starting lineup Arteta could pick for Spurs' visit.
Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Tottenham
Goalkeeper & Defenders
David Raya (GK) - Well, at least he won't be required to save five Tottenham penalties on Wednesday. That was a disastrous showing from Raya in the shootout, but Arteta won't be dropping him anytime soon.
Jurrien Timber (RB) - Thankfully, Timber was just cramping up at the end of Sunday's FA Cup defeat and Arteta has insisted the Dutchman will be fine for the derby.
William Saliba (CB) - The typically imperious Frenchman has shown signs of human life in recent outings, and Dominic Solanke will be encouraged by Saliba's little blip.
Gabriel (CB) - Gabriel atoned for the role he played in Man Utd's opener at the weekend by levelling the scores, and his equaliser should've set the stage for a come-from-behind victory. GET HIM UP TOP, MIKEL!
Myles Lewis-Skelly (LB) - Riccardo Calafiori won't be out for very long with a muscle injury, and Arteta has said the Italian could feature on Wednesday. However, if he isn't fit to start, the boss won't hesitate in throwing Lewis-Skelly out there for his first start in this fixture.
Midfielders
Thomas Partey (DM) - With Timber okay, Partey shouldn't be required at right-back. He earned some respite at the weekend and should return to the base of midfield here. The Ghanaian scored a lovely goal in this fixture two seasons ago.
Declan Rice (CM) - Rice was suspended for the reverse fixture and will return to Arteta's XI having come off the bench at the weekend. The Englishman got plenty of minutes under his belt with the game going to extra time, although he did have a couple of great chances to end the tie in 90 minutes.
Martin Odegaard (CM) - The skipper was a statistical protagonist on Sunday, but I'm still left wanting more.
Forwards
Raheem Sterling (RW) - Sterling's positive display against Man Utd should be enough to earn him a rare start with Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri out. The Englishman made his first appearance since recovering from a knee injury at the weekend.
Kai Havertz (ST) - Gabriel Jesus has torn his ACL, so Arteta has no choice but to retain his faith in Havertz. The German's confidence must be on the floor after two wasteful showings, but he'll quickly atone for recent mishaps by performing efficiently here.
Gabriel Martinelli (LW) - Tottenham will surrender space in transition, and Arsenal need speed to exploit it. Martinelli's the biggest threat on the counter and would be a better option than Leandro Trossard down the left.
