Arsenal have regarded Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres as their primary striker targets for practically the entire summer and it could now be time to look away from them.

The Gunners' need for a striker is growing greater and greater as their pre-season campaign edges closer and with no agreement reached for either target, they may have to start exploring other options.

They do have other names on their list and it may just be worth Arsenal packing in their attempts to sign Sesko and Gyokeres, but would that be the right choice?

Deals for both Sesko and Gyokeres are now proving to be difficult.

RB Leipzig are demanding a hefty fee for the Slovenian while his wage demands are also reported to be causing concern for Arsenal in negotiations. The German side have accepted they may have to fold and take a lower payment for him, but he will still be pricy.

Gyokeres' situation is the same. Sporting's president has been very vocal that the club will not be bullied into accepting a cut-price deal for the Swede and that has also meant he will also cost an arm and a leg. However, amid the striker's refusal to return and play for the club, they have had a similar epiphany to Leipzig, realising they may not receive the fee they are demanding for his services.

Both strikers are still likely to cost Arsenal a fortune and that has prompted them to add another name to their list of targets, Hugo Ekitike. The Eintracht Frankfurt forward is another man in demand this summer, attracting interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

However, he is another striker that is most likely to cost a lot of money. He is valued highly by the German side and they won't be willing to part with him for a discounted fee.

It seems as if money is going to be the main obstacle in Arsenal's pursuit of any striker this summer. They do need to hurry up and sign one, but there isn't too many cheap options to pick from. If they want a world-class goalscorer, they may have to break the bank, even just a little.

It isn't time to look away from Sesko and Gyokeres just yet. The Gunners must keep going in negotiations and may be successful now that both parent clubs have acknowledged they may have to lower their demands. It won't do Arsenal any harm to look at other strikers such as Ekitike, but for now they must keep their initial targets as the priority. One can only hope a breakthrough is made soon.
