Despite having just won the Premier League, Arsenal still needs to strengthen if they are to defend their title. So far, they have not done this significantly. Yes, they have brought in Bruno Guimarães. However, they already had Martin Zubimendi as a more than capable player in the defensive midfield position.
The left-wing position is still a concern for the Gunners. They have allowed Leandro Trossard to join Beşiktaş. Christian Tzolis has arrived from Club Brugge. However, he has already been underwhelming in the Premier League before, when he was at Norwich City. Mikel Arteta needs to bring in a striker, a defender, and a left-winger if Arsenal are to comfortably defend their title.
3 signings Arsenal could still make before the Premier League season starts
Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen has been discussed as a potential Arsenal recruit this summer. It would be a statement signing for the Gunners to sign him from Galatasaray. The Nigerian has been regarded as one of the best strikers in the world after he helped fire Napoli to the 2022/23 Serie A title.
It was disappointing that Galatasaray was his next option after being linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe. It would have been good to have seen Osimhen stay in one of the continent's top five divisions. However, we could now get a chance to see him play in the Premier League.
Osimhen has continued to be prolific in Turkey, scoring 15 goals with five assists in 22 Super Lig games last season. The striker would provide great competition for Viktor Gyokeres. Arsenal's current centre-forward has yet to reach the heights he achieved at Sporting CP.
Signing Osimhen would also allow the Gunners to be less reliant on injury-prone players as backup strikers. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have both had to fill in up front for the Gunners. However, both have had struggles with injuries. This has led to Arteta even having to play midfielder Mikel Merino as a striker.
Jarell Quansah
It looks like Aston Villa are digging their heels in over selling Ezri Konsa. Therefore, the Gunners should prioritise other defensive targets. Signing Jarell Quansah from Bayer Leverkusen would be a real coup.
Quansah already has experience of winning the Premier League as he did with Liverpool in the 2024/25 campaign. However, he was only a bit-part player then. This led to his transfer to Leverkusen, where he has secured regular game time.
The defender would be a great option for Arteta, particularly as William Saliba and Jurrien Timber are currently injured. Quansah can play at right-back as well as his favored position at centre-back. Arsenal winning the league last season was built on having a solid defence. The Gunners need to sign attacking players, but the defence is key to Arteta's system.
Kenan Yıldız
The left-wing position has been known to be Arsenal's weakness for some time. They have been linked with Bradley Barcola, but the Gunners could be priced out of signing the Frenchman. This already happened to Arteta's side when they were linked with Morgan Rogers.
Kenan Yıldız of Juventus could be an affordable option for the Gunners. He would fill in nicely on the left flank in Arteta's system. Last season in Serie A, Yıldız scored 10 goals with seven assists in 26 matches.
Yıldız is only 21, so he could be a long-term option for the Gunners on the left wing. His signing could allow Gabriel Martinelli to move on. The Brazilian has recently been linked with Galatasaray, Napoli, AS Roma, and Bayern Munich. This would leave Arsenal with Yıldız and Tzolis competing for a starting spot on the left wing.
