Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are Arsenal's two current left wingers. However, with the Gunners set to strengthen in the position, one of them should depart the club this summer.

Both players are currently at the World Cup and have been heroes for their countries. Martinelli scored the late winner for Brazil against Japan to book their place in the last 16. The Brazilian has been limited to substitute appearances as he is competing with Vinicius Junior for a starting spot. However, even with Rodrygo injured, Carlo Ancelotti still chose to play the 19-year-old Rayan ahead of Martinelli.

The truth is that Martinelli did not do enough for Arsenal last season to deserve a starting spot for his country. Martinelli scored just one goal with four assists in 30 Premier League games. This is not a good record for a team that won the division.

Martinelli did perform better in the Champions League, finding the back of the net six times with two assists in 14 matches. However, he did not have a goal involvement past the quarter-finals. His record in cup competitions was mixed. Martinelli did not score or assist in five EFL Cup matches. However, he did score four goals with one assist in four FA Cup matches. This included a hat-trick against Portsmouth.

Arsenal should keep Leandro Trossard

Trossard has had a greater impact at the World Cup. The Belgian has scored twice and assisted twice in four matches. This included setting up Youri Tielemans for a late equalizer against Senegal in the round of 32.

It is Trossard's ability to deliver in big moments that is why Arsenal must keep him. He scored the late winner against West Ham United, which all but won the Gunners the Premier League title. Trossard also set up Kai Havertz's goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Overall, Trossard's stats were better than Martinelli's last season. In 50 games in all competitions, Trossard scored eight goals with 11 assists. He is 31, and Arsenal still needs experienced players in their lineup. There have been rumors that clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia are interested in Trossard. However, Mikel Arteta would be wise to keep him.

Martinelli is only 25, and his record in the Champions League has meant that he has been linked with top European clubs. The Brazilian has been linked with the likes of PSG and Bayern Munich. Therefore, it could be shrewd for the Gunners to cash in on him.
