Brazil were looking like they were heading for a potential upset when they were trailing Japan by a goal in the round of 32 at the World Cup. However, they turned it around with Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli scoring the winner in added time.
Arsenal fans often consider goals in clutch moments to be more associated with their other winger, Leandro Trossard. The Belgian scored a late winner against West Ham United, which all but won the Premier League for the Gunners.
Trossard is also at the World Cup; his Belgium side takes on Senegal next. Should they progress, they will play the winner of the USA and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Martinelli's Brazil will take on either Norway or the Ivory Coast in the last 16.
Both Trossard and Martinelli have uncertain futures at Arsenal as their position on the left wing is considered to be the club's weakest.
Will Arsenal bring in another left-winger this summer?
Martinelli scored 11 goals with seven assists in 53 games in all competitions last season. However, he only found the back of the net once in the Premier League. He was more effective in the Champions League, which is why there is interest from top European clubs in his services. The 25-year-old has been linked with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Trossard's record for the Gunners in the campaign just passed was eight goals with 11 assists in 50 games. Therefore, there is not much difference between his and Martinelli's goal involvements. Trossard's ability to deliver in the biggest moments is why he is often rated higher by Arsenal fans. However, Trossard is now 31, and there is reported interest in him from Turkiye with Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. He has also been linked with the Saudi Arabian side, Al-Dairiyah.
In terms of replacements on the left wing, many fans would want Marcus Rashford. He is unlikely to join Barcelona permanently now after they signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Rashford is set to return to Manchester United, but may still be sold this summer.
Another left-winger that Arsenal have been linked with is Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain. However, it will be ambitious for the Gunners to prize him away from the back-to-back Champions League winners.
Jeremy Monga is also an option, but the Leicester City winger is just 16. The 24-year-old Christos Tzolis of Club Brugge is a realistic option for Arsenal. The likelihood is that one of either Martinelli or Trossard will still remain at the club for next season too.
