Leandro Trossard is currently linked with a move to Besiktas, which only means one thing... See you at Arsenal next season, Leo.
Besiktas is not going to cough up the funds required to sign Trossard. Beskitas' record transfer fee is €25 million plus €5 million in add-ons. Any fee close to that for Trossard would be simply inexcusable.
Arsenal does have a history of selling to the Turkish league, but Trossard is far from those conditions. Trossard is one of Arsenal's best and most important players, and he still has plenty to give. He is far from a desperate sale, so Arsenal is in a position to only listen to sensible offers, if they even want to.
Any talk of Arsenal selling Leandro Trossard is silly
It seems absolutely ridiculous that we are having the conversation about Leandro Trossard's sale. If anything, Arsenal needs to start considering how they can involve him in the starting lineup more often.
If Arsenal want to upgrade the left-wing position, then it leaves one of Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli as the backup. Being the backup, nine times of ten, means that your stock value decreases. Arsenal would be silly to let Martinelli's stock value decrease, so he should be sold, not Trossard.
It would be a shame to see Gabriel Martinelli leave. He is one of Arsenal's longest-serving players, and he's really matured into an excellent player at the club.
That said, if he is ever to leave, now is the perfect time for him to go. Arsenal would make some serious profit, which they are not known to do.
Gone are the days when Arsenal could consider making a profit on Trossard, so that side of the equation isn't important. He is a player who Arsenal should look at as valuable in the squad, and if he is happy to continue being a rotational player, then he absolutely should remain at the club.
Due to Trossard's sheer versatility, he is a better asset to Arsenal than Martinelli. Sure, Martinelli has the better ceiling, but Trossard provides more value now. Besides, it's not like Trossard is dwindling with age himself. If anything, he is getting better the more he ages.
If Arsenal sell Trossard, it needs to be for the right price. Frankly, anything around the 20 million mark is just pointless for a club the size of Arsenal. If Arsenal had the chance to pay 20 million to sign Trossard now, they would, so selling him for that fee would be a soulless and rather bleak move.
