Arsenal could repeat Eberechi Eze transfer hijacking in last 24 hours of the summer window

The transfer window might close in just over 24 hours, but Arsenal could still pull off a ridiculous deal which would excite supporters for a host of reasons.

The Gunners have endured a frustrating window, marred by the failed pursuits of Vinicius Junior and Morgan Rogers. That said, Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta have still significantly bolstered their squad.

One of the Premier League's best midfielders, Bruno Guimaraes, has arrived to complement an already exceptional cohort of players in this area of the pitch for Arsenal. Christos Tzolis looks like a bargain at £34 million, producing encouraging performances in his first few outings in a red and white shirt. Finally, Ezri Konsa will supply Arteta with a competent stand-in for William Saliba during the Frenchman's injury lay-off.

There's still a feeling amongst supporters that something is missing. It's not impossible that Arsenal do get this 'something', and even if not everyone is in agreement about the player in question, they'll support how they could get hold of him.

Arsenal looking to hijack Tottenham's Iliman Ndiaye deal

Arsenal have been exploring alternatives for Julian Alvarez over the last week, and a name that has consistently come up is Everton's Iliman Ndiaye. The Senegalese forward has impressed in glimpses on Merseyside and is ready for a step-up to a side that dominates games.

However, it emerged on Sunday that Tottenham are advancing in talks with Everton over a deal for Ndiaye. The mooted fee is around £60 million, while Richarlison is expected to go the other way on loan.

That said, there could yet be a spanner in the works. According to Senegalese outlet Taggat, Arsenal have made an enquiry for Ndiaye.

While Everton seem keen on agreeing to the deal involving their former striker, Ndiaye is yet to agree to personal terms with Tottenham. Even if the Toffees and Spurs want the deal they have in place to materialise, it won't happen if the 26-year-old pushes for Arsenal.

Thus, the Gunners throwing their hat in the ring should buy them time whilst they wait for a final answer from Alvarez. If the Argentine declines a switch to North London once again, they can move forward with a deal for Ndiaye, who would almost certainly rather sign for the Premier League champions than the team currently bottom of the division.

This would be another example of Arsenal gazumping their noisy neighbours in the market. Last summer, the Gunners famously hijacked Spurs' move for Eberechi Eze.

The Lilywhites had an agreement in place with Crystal Palace for Eze, but Arsenal jumped in at the eleventh hour to sign him instead.

They can do the same here, and this would instantly establish Ndiaye as a cult hero in N5.
