A notable friendly was organized at the Emirates Stadium over the international break with Gabriel Magalhães' Brazil taking on Senegal. However, it was not to be a happy occasion for the Arsenal defender as he was taken off due to injury in the 64th minute.

The muscle problem, according to The Athletic, could mean that Gabriel is out for "one or two months."

This would be a huge blow to Arsenal's bid to win the Premier League. They are currently leading the division, but Manchester City and even Chelsea are just behind them. The Gunners have been runners-up in the Premier League in the last three seasons. This campaign has been thought to be their best chance of winning the division for the first time since the 2003/04 invincibles' season.

Last season, Arsenal's lack of a striker, with injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, meant that they had to play Mikel Merino out of position up front. This was one of the reasons why they could not challenge Liverpool for the title. Now, Arsenal's problems could be at the other end of the pitch.

Losing Gabriel Magalhães is a huge blow for Arsenal

Premier League-winning teams are built on great defences, and Gabriel is a key part of Arsenal's back line. He, along with Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, and Riccardo Callafiori, has been phenomenal this season. Their form has meant that David Raya has conceded just five goals and kept seven clean sheets in the division so far.

Gabriel is also a threat from set-pieces and has one goal and two assists this campaign. The Brazilian has played 90 minutes in all of Arsenal's league games this season. His center-back partner, Saliba, has missed just one game due to an ankle injury. His replacement that day was Christian Mosquera, who will have to fill in for Gabriel again.

Mosquera came on for the injured Saliba after five minutes as Liverpool beat the Gunners at Anfield. He then played 90 minutes as Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0. He has since made just two second-half appearances for the Gunners in the league.

Arsenal will need Mosquera to step up again as they face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby this weekend. They then play Bayern Munich in the Champions League next Wednesday, with Chelsea the following Sunday. If Gabriel is to miss December too, then this could be disastrous, with the Gunners having eight matches in the month.
