Forget Rogers and Barcola, Arsenal should sign 'dangerous' star instead

Arsenal have been heavily linked with both Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola, but should arguably turn their attention elsewhere

The reporting is clear; Arsenal's priority this summer is to add a dynamic left winger to their ranks, and the primary candidates to fill this role are Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola.

Leandro Trossard is set to leave the Emirates and join Besiktas in a £17 million deal. Elsewhere, Gabriel Martinelli is garnering interest from Bayern Munich, with the Gunners evidently looking to rebuild the left-hand side of their attack.

Rogers is understood to be the primary target, while Barcola has been mooted as the alternative to the Aston Villa man, if the West Midlands club prove too stubborn with their stance on selling their prized possession.

Should Arsenal be so set on these two specific targets, or should they be considering slightly undervalued options on the market?

Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola might both be too expensive

Inflation is rife in the domestic English transfer market, with players going for ridiculous fees on a whim. Sandro Tonali recently completed a £100 million switch to Tottenham, Matues Fernandes joined the same club for £85 million, while Elliot Anderson signed for Manchester City for £116 million.

Clearly, Arsenal might be forced to fork out a fee for a player they feel somewhat uncomfortable paying this summer. However, that shouldn't mean they have no boundaries or parameters set for certain targets.

Various reports have indicated that Villa could demand upwards of £130 million for Rogers. While he was one of the most influential players in Europe last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists across all competitions, it could certainly be argued that he isn't worth literally breaking the bank for.

The England international has immense talent, but he relies on space in transition to produce his magic - not a game state Arsenal find themselves in very often. He also, quite frankly, isn't a winger and has never displayed a capacity to play out wide.

Meanwhile, PSG could be looking for a fee in the same ballpark as this for Barcola. The indications in the media suggest that the Ligue 1 giants don't want to sell the Frenchman, and it will take a ludicrous offer to sway them.

Like Rogers, as good as Barcola is, can an outlay as hefty as £130 million be justified for a player with his CV? Arguably not.

Arsenal should explore Kenan Yildiz deal instead

If Villa and PSG won't budge on Barcola, Arsenal will be forced to look elsewhere. There is certainly a shortage of quality left wing options on the market, although there is one man who stands above the rest.

Kenan Yildiz, who crashed out of the World Cup at the first hurdle with Turkey earlier this summer, would represent an astute buy and would probably cost less than both of the aforementioned stars.

The Juventus star scored 14 goals and registered ten assists last season for the Old Lady, demonstrating his ability to produce solid output in a competitive league. At just 21, he both has plenty of room to grow but is also ready to make an immediate impact.

Creative, a goal threat, a good dribbler and an excellent defender, Yildiz has the right blend of attributes to thrive in an Arteta team. Juventus have reportedly slapped an £85 million price tag on the Turkish winger, significantly below the prospective Barcola and Rogers fees.

Arsenal simply must consider Yildiz, described as 'dangerous' by football analyst Ben Mattinson, as a viable option.
