Leandro Trossard has left Arsenal after his move to Beşiktaş was confirmed earlier this week and he has departed the club as a legend due to one moment.

The Belgian first joined from Brighton in January 2023 as an option B after a failed move for Mykhailo Mudryk, which ended in the Ukrainian joining London rivals Chelsea instead.

For a player that was practically second-choice, Trossard did a great job during his three years playing for the Gunners and he has left as a Premier League champion, a status he achieved thanks to arguably his greatest moment in an Arsenal shirt.

Leandro Trossard's legend status at Arsenal is down to one moment

When Trossard put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Gunners in 2023, his new side were at the top of the Premier League and he was brought in as mid-season reinforcements to help them get over the line.

Despite the Belgian's best efforts with one goal and 10 assists in 20 league appearances, Arsenal fell short by five points and missed out on the title to eventual treble winners Manchester City.

The 2023/24 season would be the same story as Trossard delivered 12 goals and two assists in 34 league matches to help take his side so close once again, but they were pipped to the prize by City once again, this time by only two points.

A lacklustre individual and team performance in the 2024/25 campaign meant the winger's wait for a Premier League winners' medal would go on, but that all changed a year later in what proved to be Trossard's final season in North London.

As had been the case for the entirety of his Gunners career, the Belgium international proved himself as a 'clutch' forward, having previously scored crucial goals against Chelsea, Porto and Liverpool, just to name a few.

He found the back of the net just six times in 31 league appearances last season, but there is no denying how crucial each of those goals were for the team. He scored against Fulham, Sunderland, Tottenham and Aston Villa (twice), but didn't net again until May when he grabbed his final ever strike in Arsenal colours, perhaps the most crucial of them all.

After losing 2-1 to Man City on 19 April, the Gunners had handed their title rivals the full advantage in the race for one of football's most sought after prizes and they knew they had to win all of their remaining five games to give themselves a chance at finally ending 22 years of hurt.

Wins over Newcastle and Fulham put Mikel Arteta's side in a good position ahead of arguably their toughest remaining fixture: a trip to face relegation threatened West Ham.

An incredible David Raya save to deny Mateus Fernandes the opening goal ensured the score was still 0-0 going into the closing stages and in the 83rd minute, Trossard delivered the goods. Captain Martin Ødegaard found his teammate in the box for the Belgian to fire home the all-important goal that kept their side at the top of the table.

The following week, a win over Burnley and City dropping points at Bournemouth meant the moment had finally come. Arsenal were Premier League champions and many fans pointed to Trossard's strike at West Ham being the moment that had won them the title.

His winner at the London Stadium proved to be Trossard's last as a Gunner and it was by far the most important of his many big moments during his three-year spell.

Going to a team facing relegation while in a dramatic title race for their hardest remaining game was always set to be a tough task for Arsenal and it was their Belgian number 19 who did what they needed to do.

Having helped deliver something may Gooners had waited years, some even their whole life, for, Trossard cemented himself in Gunners history and with that goal alone, he confirmed his status as an Arsenal legend.
