Mikel Arteta couldn't believe that Arsenal failed to beat Man United in the FA Cup. Yet, everybody except from him can definitely believe it.

Sigh. Arsenal are now out of the FA Cup and they are hanging by a thread in the EFL Cup. Both of those shameful losses occurred in the space of a week, with both Newcastle and Man United (on penalties) beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Both matches called for opportunities to be buried by Arsenal yet in neither match did any striker score for Arsenal.

If you've been living under a rock, you might be wondering why no striker managed to step up and score for Arsenal. The reason is simple - Arsenal do not have a striker.

But, how can a team who wish to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League expect to do so without signing a striker? I know, I know. We wish we had the answer to that too.

The only man who can answer this is Mikel Arteta. Yet, unfortunately, he has avoided the elephant in the room and instead pointed at other factors.

Mikel Arteta makes yet another excuse & ignores clear Arsenal transfer need

When questioned about his post-match thoughts, Mikel Arteta said that he couldn't believe Arsenal didn't win. He said that the Gunners didn't get what they deserved on Sunday afternoon.

In his own words, Arteta said: "Incredible how we didn’t win the game... We didn’t get what we deserve clearly, but there is an element about putting the ball in the back of the net, we did it once, with the amount of situations, chances, penalties that we had, we didn’t. We haven’t got rewarded and that’s the downside to it."

These comments are all well and good, but it's actually not incredible how we didn't win the game. Arsenal also didn't deserve to win the game. If they deserved to win, they would have done so by putting the ball in the back of the net given the obvious chances missed.

But the reason why Arsenal missed those chances should haunt Mikel Arteta. There is no striker in the team and this was emphasised yet again.

Kai Havertz made a fool of himself through no fault of his own. I risk sounding like a broken record here but he is not a striker. So while it might be frustrating to watch him failing to be a striker, he arguably shouldn't even be in that position anyway.

We're 13 days into January now. Do something about it, @Arsenal.
