All in all, a decent summer for Arsenal.

Arsenal are second to many but excel in spending in the transfer market. Mikel Arteta and Co. have recognized the needs of the team and made incredible reinforcements that suggest some greatness is on the horizon.

In total, there have been eight signings in the first team and a ton of departures as well. The squad looks good enough to compete, although they fell in the last minutes against defending champions Liverpool.

So, here’s an attempt to rank every Arsenal signing of the 2025 summer transfer window from worst to best:

Ranking all Arsenal transfers of the 2025 summer window from worst to best

8. Kepa Arrizabalaga

This is easily the last-placed signing. But it is not because Kepa is bad, rather because this move is not expected to bring much return.

David Raya is undoubtedly going to remain first-choice, so the former Chelsea man is unlikely to play many games. Some cup matches outside of the Premier League could be his role, mainly to give Raya rest.

A useful addition, but with little potential for impact. Eighth is fair.

7. Noni Madueke

If Kepa did not have such an unclear future, this would have been Arsenal’s worst signing. This £48 million move makes little financial sense. That money could have been used much better elsewhere, or the player could have been secured for far less.

Even though Madueke was arguably Arsenal’s best player against Liverpool, he won’t see much action once Bukayo Saka returns.

Saka owns that wing, and no one is replacing him any time soon.

6. Christian Norgaard

Norgaard is already 31 and is here solely for the experience he gained at Brentford. He had his time earlier in his career but this is not it. He may contribute in certain moments, but it’s hard to see him playing regularly.

He does bring invaluable experience to the defensive midfield role, but his age and current form place him lower in these rankings.

5. Piero Hincapie

Listen, Arsenal fans, this is just a decent signing. Not too good, not too bad. He’s only here on loan and there’s little reason to believe he’ll be kept permanently.

He doesn’t fit naturally within the squad. He feels like a spare part in both central defense and full-back roles. The competition ahead of him, both from teammates and from fan expectations, will be tough.

Simply put, he wasn’t needed.

4. Cristhian Mosquera

How is it that Arsenal spend almost £100 million on players you wouldn’t recommend elsewhere, yet pick up a player of Mosquera’s quality for just £15 million?

Mosquera is an exciting addition. He can defend, he can make forward runs, and he fits the modern-day defender profile. The bargain price makes the deal even better.

An easy choice for fourth place. I’m personally rooting for him.

3. Eberechi Eze

This was one of the most exciting Arsenal signings in recent memory. The former Crystal Palace star has already adapted well to life at Arsenal.

We know how hard Arsenal fought for him, even hijacking the move from Tottenham Hotspur. That alone says a lot.

Eze played 34 crucial games for Palace last season, earning his step up. If this list were only about excitement, Eze might well have been first.

2. Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal long needed a lethal striker to solve their persistent conversion issues, and Gyokeres fits the bill. In fact, he ticks nearly every box.

The Swedish international had a relatively slow start compared to expectations, but it’s early days.

We should not jump ahead of ourselves. Gyokeres is the striker Arteta always needed, and patience will be rewarded.

1.    Martin Zubimendi

I’ll admit I have a bias for Spanish players, but Zubimendi doesn’t need bias to shine.

Having watched him in La Liga for years, I can vouch that Zubimendi is the answer to Arsenal’s midfield gap.

He's versatile and the command on ball that he has is one of the best in the world right now. He does not have that kind of a background but if he did, he would already be in the list of the best midfielders in the world.

At 26, he still has more than half a decade at his peak. I believe Arsenal will keep him at the Emirates as long as possible.

A truly transformational signing.
