Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night was their final London derby of the season. While they had already secured their status as the kings of the capital, that wasn't the way they wanted to see out a season of rival games.
The Gunners won seven of the 12 league games they contested with their London rivals throughout the campaign, drawing four and losing one. With Chelsea the closest team but having already played all their capital ties, Mikel Arteta's side had wrapped up their title as the city's dominators regardless of the result against Palace.
While Arsenal have now cemented their status as the kings of London for the third consecutive season, it wasn't all positive on the rivalry front, so let's take a look at how they fared throughout the Premier League campaign.

Arsenal's first capital clash of the season came just four games in with a trip to arch-rivals Tottenham. They came away from the home of their long-time enemies with a 1-0 win thanks to a solid performance.
Spurs were the only London side the Gunners managed to do the double over during the campaign, completing it with a 2-1 comeback victory at Emirates Stadium in January. A superb Leandro Trossard display helped his side fight from a goal down and secure the three points on a cold winter evening.
The Gunners scored five goals in two separate London derbies to secure convincing wins on the road. A November trip to West Ham saw Mikel Arteta's side romp to a 5-2 victory courtesy of an outstanding first-half performance in East London. They then replicated their five-star heroics with a dominant 5-1 win away to Crystal Palace amid Gabriel Jesus' unfortunately short-lived redemption arc. Away from the league, they also managed a 3-2 win over Palace in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Arteta's Gunners side marked the start of a new year with another comeback derby win, responding well to an early Bryan Mbeumo goal to win 3-1 at Brentford.
The transition from winter to spring saw Arsenal secure consecutive victories over West London opponents in N5. Hosting Chelsea at the Emirates, makeshift striker Mikel Merino sealed a 1-0 win with a brilliant headed goal. The dreaded international break ensued but the Gunners marked their return to action with a 2-1 triumph over Fulham that ended a two-year winless run against the Cottagers. Bukayo Saka stole the headlines that evening as he marked his long-awaited comeback from injury with the winning goal.
As has been the case throughout much of the season however, the Gunners' ventures in London were hampered by draws as they played out four stalemates, a third of the capital clashes played. The first of those came away to Chelsea where they were held to a 1-1 draw.
That scoreline would repeat itself in West London just weeks later when Arsenal were forced to come from behind to salvage a point at Fulham. The trend of drawing against those from that part of the capital continued later in the season with the Gunners letting a lead slip against Brentford to play out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates.
Arsenal let yet another lead go to draw 2-2 with Palace this week, their last London matchup of the season. With the Eagles capitalising on a William Saliba mistake to snatch a point, the result highlighted the Gunners' inability to keep hold of leads this campaign, with three of their four city derby draws coming from failure to maintain a winning position.
Despite their occasional struggles to see out wins, the Gunners lost just one of their meetings with a London rival this season. That defeat came in February as they suffered a dismal 1-0 loss at the hands of West Ham. The fall to the Hammers was a catalyst for Arsenal's mixed league form as it halted their hopes of keeping up with leaders Liverpool.
Regardless, Arsenal have ensured they are the kings of London for the third straight season and that shows the level they stand above their rivals across the capital. Maybe the great city is red after all!
